Did you know that Germany's first ever steam locomotive, the Adler, run in 1835 between the two Bavarian towns of Nuremberg and Fuerth and that the driver earned twice as much as the company's director? Today a turbulent rail history can still be admired in Bavaria.

Nördlingen and Dinkelsbühl are two impressive old towns both with original and preserved medieval city walls. From railway heaven to beer paradise. The museum train is a special attraction of the German Steam Locomotive Museum and operates a service from Neuenmarkt to the Bavarian Brewery Museum in Kulmbach. The track on which the train operates looks back to 150 years of moving history. Shortly behind Neuenmarkt is where the famous steep track, the "Schiefe Ebene" (Sloping Plain), begins. While riding the museum train passengers will experience the immense power the locomotive needs in order to climb the steep track.
