Memories of a School Trip to Germany

We payed a visit to Bergen Belsen and it is a memory that has stayed with me ever since.

On a more cheerful note we next went to Bayern and spent a wonderful week with families in Kaufbeuren, although my host family did not have any room so kindly put me up at a place called the Hirsch Keller (I think). We visited mad Koenig Ludwig's castle of Scloss Neuscwanstein and I have to say the real thing beats the Disney version hands down, even though I suppose it was a Disney fantasy of its time.

The school band played at a traditional Bayerische evening party, with a proper Bavarian Oompah band and traditional Lederhosen dancing. My best friend and I joined in the dancing and got a few laughs when I would slap his face, but then stepped out of the way as he tried to hit mine.

I am being sincere when I say that the German people I met were friendly, hospitable and fun and I really would like to visit there again.
