Tourism without Barriers

Under this slogan, Germany is offering holidaymakers with restricted mobility a wide range of travel options along with a growing number of packages that include barrier-free accommodation, activities and services. Travellers with physical restrictions gain from it, but also elderly people, travellers with prams, familiy with children etc.

A number of different organisations and associations are on hand to offer advice and information about planning and organising your holiday in Germany. On this site you will find a variety of useful links to service centres, other websites, etc., which can also provide information about barrier-free holidays in Germany for people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or partially deaf.

Feel free to travel

The NatKo (National Tourism Coordination Agency for All People e. V.) is the central organisation for any enquiries concerning "tourism without barriers". The organisation is supported by the main associations for the disabled in Germany and co-operates with its partners in order to develop new concepts and solutions for the improvement of travel and holiday opportunities for people with limited mobility. Those who want to enjoy holidays without barriers find a variety of information concerning "tourism for all people" on the WebSite of the NatKo (www.natko.de). One of the major features of this WebSite is the NatKo Guide "Who is helping?", for instance, in which you will find offers and addresses of travel advice centres for disabled tourists as well as a list of tour operators that offer suitable programmes and many other important facts.

The website you-too informs on the accessibility of public buildings. Reliable information regarding appropriate accommodation or leisure activities makes active travelling for disabled or elderly persons easier. It allows for mobility - and for joy of life.

Travel Without Barriers

The Deutsche Bahn (German railway) offers transportation service to the disabled. You can book this in advance using an individual hotline (+49 (0) 18 05 / 512 512). The telephones are on Monday through Friday, from 8am to 12pm, and Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. Germany also has 385 railway stations which have lifting aides or mobile ramps. Under certain prerequisites, the disabled and their escorts travel by train free-of-charge or at reduced rates. You can find more information in the extensive brochure "Information for Disabled Travelers", available at all DB ticket counters or by ordering directly on the Internet.

The Lufthansa AG Air Travel Without Barriers Service should be booked in advance - if possible at the same time as making the flight reservation. For further details see www.lufthansa.com or ask your local travel agent. Alternatively, contact Lufthansa on +49 (0) 18 03 / 803 803 with your specific enquiries.
