Potsdam
Town of palaces and parks

Potsdam's main attractions, its palaces and parks, bear witness to the days when Potsdam was the summer residence of the Prussian kings. Sanssouci Palace and Park, built by Frederick the Great, are the crowning glory in this magnificent collection. Today, the town's reputation as a lively centre of culture and learning is enhanced by the fascinating architecture of its historical districts - the Dutch quarter, the Russian colony of Alexandrovka and the exclusive residential area of Babelsberg - and the many events staged in Potsdam's palaces.
