Bad Oeynhausen
A spa resort with its own special charm

With its beautiful old villas, parks and historical spa gardens, Bad Oeynhausen's town centre is the ideal place to relax and unwind, offering a combination of traditional natural remedies, modern facilities and English-style gardens. In addition to its state-of-the-art treatment centres, Bad Oeynhausen has the largest thermal saltwater spring in the world - the Jordansprudel. Saltwater stimulates the circulation, improves the metabolism and aids the vegetative nervous system. It can also help to alleviate the following medical conditions: cardiovascular disease, musculo-skeletal illnesses, rheumatic diseases, gynaecological diseases, diseases of the nervous system/psychosomatic disorders, skin complaints, general weakness and is also beneficial during convalescence.

Medical facilities

The first thermal saline spring in Bad Oeynhausen was discovered in the "New Saltworks" near Rehme in 1845. The discovery of these medicinal springs caused a great stir and led to a number of wonderful spa complexes being established. One of the main attractions was the Jordansprudel, the world's largest carbonated thermal saltwater spring, with fountains that reach heights of up to 40 metres when there's no wind. The town has a number of beautifully restored historical buildings, many of which now house modern health treatment facilities.
