Bad Neuenahr is famous around the world for its natural mineral water. It has three "alkaline thermal" springs, which are found in few other places in Europe. This highly carbonated water is particularly suitable for drinking or bathing in. Bad Neuenahr's medicinal springs have three main characteristic features: a natural temperature of between 34 and 41C; the water from the springs is naturally acidic and contains high levels of sodium, magnesium and hydrogen carbonate; and there is a particularly high level of natural carbonic acid, in both bonded and dissociated form. The water can help alleviate the following medical conditions: cardiovascular disease, musculo-skeletal illnesses, rheumatic diseases, diseases of the digestive system, metabolic disorders, kidney and urinary tract disease and general weakness and can also help in convalescence.
