New hiking and cycling brochures - 01.04.2009

Value for money active holidays in Germany 2009

London, 1 April 2009 - With two new pocket guides now available, exploring Germany by bike and on foot has become even easier.

Discover Germany by bike and Walking in Germany provide comprehensive information for visitors and present a selection of the countrys most attractive hiking and cycling trails.

Each brochure introduces 45 hiking and cycling trails of different lengths and level of difficulty. Ramblers and cyclists can pick and choose their favourite territory with Germany offering every kind of scenery from trails by the sea, around lakes, through forests, low mountain ranges or Alpine mountain tracks. The routes are presented with a short description including a map plus information box and suggestions for things to see and do in the area.

Some of Germanys most popular trails are the hiking routes in the Rhine and Moselle wine growing regions and the famous Rennsteig through the Thuringian forest and for cyclists the Weser cycle trail connecting the marshes around Bremen with the Weserbergland hills or the Altmühl valley cycle trail, exploring the regions nature park.  With the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall being celebrated this year, contemporary German history can also be followed on the Berlin Wall cycle trail on altogether 160 km in Berlin and the Brandenburg region, surrounding the capital.

For an all-round activity break, Germany also offers value for money accommodation along the route with the Bed & Bike list, for instance, providing information about bicycle-friendly B&Bs and hotels.

Hiking in the Black Forest: three nights per person in a double room including breakfast, visit of panorama swimming-pool, hiking map of the region and luggage transfer for EUR 169.
