Insurance

Black Car
Important! Since 2007 a number of insurance companies in the UK have changed their terms and conditions for driving on the continent. If you take your car over to Europe many insurers will now automatically downgrade your insurance to third party liability only.

Regulations do state that insurers must provide the minimum legal level of third party cover in all EU countries but third party means if there is any damage to your own car or theft you will not be covered. It is therefore crucial that you carefully check your insurance policy and to let your insurance company know before you go.

Once in Germany motorists should always carry all documents and evidence of motor insurance (insurance certificate) with them.
