The Danube and its tributaries
A River in a Natural Landscape
Every single one of them is called "Regen" (Rain): the river, one of its beautiful towns and the region in the Bavarian Forest. But, nevertheless, it is just a rumour that it really rains more often in this area. Independent from the weather conditions, the Regen's landscape has an enchanting and impressing impact on everybody.
With the Hohen Albers mountain, called "the king of the Bavarian Forest", towering 1,500 metres above, there lies the town of Bavarian Eisenstein, in the middle of the biggest forest region of Middle Europe, directly at the border line with the Czech Republic. Already in the past, when merchants came to sell the Zwiesel, a famous glass of the region, they enjoyed the friendliness and the joyous atmosphere of the cities at the border line. The art of glass production has founded the good reputation of the Zwiesel, interestingly presented by the exhibitions of the Crystal Route.

A dense network of hiking trails leads you through the nice smell of the forests along the Regen to the town with the same name. Here you will find an exciting mixture of tradition and relaxation.
