Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Reserve

Roman Limes
Babbling brooks and meandering rivers, wide plateaux, caves steeped in legend and unspoilt forests are all characteristic of the Swabian-Franconian Forest nature reserve in the north-eastern corner of Baden-Württemberg near Stuttgart, a landscape shaped by man over many centuries. The scattered villages with their traditional timber-framed houses are ideal for exploring, as are the medieval towns with their magnificent castles. Historic oil mills, the remains of the Limes, the Roman border wall, and other attractions are easily accessible on foot, by bike or by car.
