State quarry TD 4: The Thuringian Slate Park in Lehesten shows visitors the history of slate production
Visitors to the Thuringian Slate Mountains/Upper Saale nature reserve will discover a picture-book landscape between the Bleiloch reservoir and the Rennsteig trail, with wooded hills and valleys, streams and reservoirs as well as slate cliffs and idyllic villages. At the Saalfeld Fairy Grottoes you can enter a magical underground world, enjoy an exciting ride on the world's steepest funicular or relax at the spa resort of Lobenstein.
