Events

Bad Sassendorf has a wide range of entertainments from high-calibre musical and kabarett performances to exciting concerts by the spa orchestra and a variety of sporting events. The Sälzerlauf run is a sporting weekend for the whole family culminating in an awards ceremony. The Soest All Saints' Day Annual Fair is a festival held in the historic old quarter and attracts almost a million visitors to the town every year. At the Christmas village, festive illuminations, the aroma of gingerbread and mulled wine, and the Christmas music get visitors in the mood for the festive season.

Sälzerlauf run in Bad Sassendorf
The Sälzerlauf run is held every May and is an event where the whole family can either join in or just watch and cheer people on. The run starts and finishes in Sälzerplatz square at the heart of Bad Sassendorf. You can choose from four lovely routes of differing lengths depending on your fitness. After the event there is a party with various bands and lots of other entertainment.

Soest All Saints' Day Annual Fair
The All Saints' Day Annual Fair in Soest is one of the largest and most unusual fairs of its kind in Europe, and is well over 600 years old. The fair is a huge event which takes place every year on the Wednesday after All Saints' Day and is well worth checking out. The medieval surroundings and imposing architectural monuments provide a charming contrast to the high-tech fairground rides.

Christmas village
You can find a wide range of gift ideas in the festively decorated wooden hut village on Sälzerplatz square: traditional mountain handicrafts, Christmas window and table decorations, honey and wax candles and Christmas cakes and biscuits. You'll also be tempted to feast on other delicacies, glühwein and rustic specialities. Accompanied by little angels in a horse-drawn carriage, Santa Clause drops by to hand out sweets to the children.
