Places of interest

Built in the style of an English country park in 1853, the historical spa gardens are situated in the heart of Bad Oeynhausen. The gardens feature a wealth of mature trees and impressive buildings such as the imperial palace (Kaiserpalais), the elegant pump room with its arcades, the spa buildings with their modern treatment facilities and the rococo-style theatre. Visitors will find plenty of opportunity here to give their health a boost. The Jordanstrudel, a thermal saltwater spring with a natural temperature of 27-31°C, is just one of eight mineral springs in the spa resort and the largest carbonated thermal saltwater spring in the world.
At the heart of the seemingly endless grounds of the 2000 Regional Garden Show is the Aqua Magica Park. The park's main attractions include the water crater, water gardens and the "World Climate Avenue", which features an orchid house and a number of attractive gardens, including the "Ideas Garden" with designs by East Westphalian gardeners. The avenue also has a sculpture garden and the "Spice World" garden. The main purpose behind the Aqua Magica park is to allow visitors to see and experience the therapeutic saline springs as one of the region's most unique and distinctive resources.
One of Germany's largest classic car museums with more than 450 exhibits on display in temporary exhibitions, the Oldtimer Museum is an exquisite piece of automotive and motorcycling history. Walking around the museum is like stepping back in time, with the chance to learn all about the chronological development of motorization in Germany after the Second World War, visit an authentic replica of a 1950s garage, have a family photograph taken in a 1919 Model T Ford or find out the story of the Mercedes SL. Other fascinating exhibits include the imperial car belonging to Kaiser Wilhelm II, a Mercedes Simplex from 1905 and a white Mars motorbike from 1922.
