Events

Art and culture are high on the agenda in Bad Kissingen. The town has a wide range of cultural events for locals and visitors to enjoy throughout the year. There are plenty of treats in store for lovers of the fine arts as well as those looking for entertainment and special events.

Rose Ball
When the rosarium is in full bloom and the scent of thousands of roses hangs in the air, it's time for the traditional Rose Ball. This annual social event takes place in June and is one of the highlights of the Bad Kissingen Summer Festival. The Regent's building and a number of magnificent rooms, drenched with the scent of 10,000 roses, provide the setting for this exquisite ball. The celebrations culminate with the election of Bad Kissingen's Rose Queen and her two princesses.

Rakoczy Equestrian Tournament
It is not just horse lovers who flock to the riverside show ring on the first weekend of August. The four-day Rakoczy equestrian tournament is an ideal opportunity for people to get together, watch excellent performances by horses and riders, and let their hair down in the festival marquee in the evening. Against the backdrop of the historical tournament building, visitors can enjoy the wonderful sight of horses and riders competing on the showjumping course or dressage arena.

Minnesingers and the clanging of swords
Fanfares sound, the muffled drums roll and shawms ring out, as Beatrix and Otto von Botenlauben enter the castle round, followed by their seemingly endless train. Botenlauben Castle is filled with minnesingers, travelling entertainers, servants, musicians and knights. Every year, on the third weekend in September, it's festival time on Bad Kissingen's Reiterwiesen.
