Suggested excursions

There are plenty of enjoyable leisure activities on offer in Bad Kissingen and the surrounding region. Take a thrilling journey back in time with a stagecoach ride, experience how magnificently the aristocracy once lived at Aschach Castle or have fun with the whole family at the Freizeit-Land Geiselwind amusement park.

Stagecoach ride
The Bad Kissingen stagecoach is the only mail coach still in existence in Germany. It set off its maiden journey on 7 June 1939, but the service was stopped just a few months later when the Second World War broke out. Since the summer of 1950, the yellow coach drawn by four horses has regularly travelled from Bad Kissingen through the Saale valley to Aschach Castle and Bad Bocklet. If you've ever been on one, you'll know it's not to be missed!

Aschach Castle
Aschach Castle has a history of being pawned, mortgaged and impounded. It has therefore had many different owners. On 2 August 1874, the local villagers celebrated when the family of Dr. Friedrich Graf von Luxburg, the royal Bavarian chief administrator of Lower Franconia and Aschaffenburg, moved in. Chancellor Otto von Bismarck visited the castle almost every year between 1876 and 1893. Countess Luise von Luxburg was also a close friend of the imperial family. The Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm, who later went on to become Kaiser Friedrich III, stayed in Aschach several times, as did Empress Auguste Victoria, the wife of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Freizeit-Land Geiselwind
The Freizeit-Land Geiselwind amusement park has a huge selection of attractions. The park's numerous rides range from gentle children's carousels to spectacular big rides including rollercoasters, flight simulators and a giant wildwater ride. There is also an exciting entertainment programme. The children's zoo with its ponies, donkeys and goats is always popular with younger visitors.
