The open-air stage in Bad Bentheim is one of the oldest open-air theatres in Germany. For over 70 years performances have been held in this former sandstone quarry in the Bentheim hills. The municipal museum has an exhibition on textile production in the former Povel weaving mill, which is around 300 metres from Povel tower. The whole production process of a textile factory is displayed in an area of 400 square metres with fully functioning machinery. The exhibition uses old textile machines dating from 1950 to 1990 from the former textile companies Povel, Nino and Rawe.
