Elbe impressions around Magdeburg

Photo: Robert Steger, Wandermagazin - Silhouette of a cable ferry on the Elbe river at dusk
The emperor, the king and the mayor - Magdeburg boasts no fewer than three branches of the Elbe.

The north tower of the Gothic cathedral affords wonderful panoramic views. Beneath the cathedral rock, the "Old Elbe". Surrounding the shores of Rotehorn island and, behind, the "Stream Elbe".

There is still more to see - the ship lift on the Mittelland Canal or the new 918-metre canal bridge. Further downstream, Wolmirstedt's rock salt mines or Jerichow's Romanesque Norbertine abbey with its twin-towered west section. Impressions of the Elbe.
