Suggested excursions

If visiting Hamlyn's magnificent Weser Renaissance buildings has whetted your appetite for more, why not go on a trip along the 350 km Weser Renaissance Route between Hannoversch Münden and Bremen? Along the route are architectural monuments from the 16th and early 17th centuries, such as palaces and stately homes, town halls and town houses made from stone or of half-timbered construction. They are all testament to the economic and cultural prosperity of the period preceding the Thirty Years War.
The Solling-Vogler nature reserve covers an area of around 53,000 hectares between the Harz and Weserbergland hills, forming north Germany's largest mixed forest upland area, a paradise for stags and roe deer, wild boar and mouflon sheep, as well as a host of rare flora. It has many footpaths and cycle trails leading to a number of places of cultural or historical interest and leisure facilities.
Lake Steinhude lies 53km from Hamlyn. At around 30 square kilometres it is the largest lake in north-west Germany and gives its name to the surrounding nature reserve. The large lake and the area's diverse scenery make the reserve a popular holiday destination. You can enjoy all kinds of sporting activities here, such as swimming, cycling and sailing, or you can simply relax.
