Events

A week before "Oath Week", the locals are already getting into the party spirit at Ulm Fair. People of all ages gather in Friedrichsau Park to enjoy the festivities and the relaxed, happy atmosphere between Ausee lake and the river Danube. There's lots of Swabian food and drink to try and plenty of rides providing a rush of adrenaline.
Every July the whole of Ulm lets its hair down for "Oath Week", a colourful town-wide festival. The highlight is "Oath Monday" when the mayor reports to the townspeople about the town's fortunes and swears a historical oath dating back to the 14th century. This is followed by a procession on the river Danube involving thousands of local people in all kinds of elaborate craft, some of which they have built themselves.
Every year Ulm's Christmas market attracts visitors from all over southern and central Germany. The minster is surrounded by enchanting Christmas stalls offering a range of tasty treats, arts and crafts and other specialities. During the festive season the whole town gathers here to soak up the Christmas atmosphere, enjoy a glass of mulled wine and browse for Christmas gifts.
