Nature & greenery

The Alpine Gardens are located just a few miles outside Pforzheim and from April to October this is where you can see over 100,000 plants from mountainous regions around the world as they come into blossom. The gardens are at their most beautiful during the main flowering period which lasts from the end of April to the middle of June. There is also a nursery on site where amateur gardeners can buy plants and get some expert advice.
Pforzheim wildlife park can be found on the southern outskirts of town. It is open all year round and is particularly popular with children. In its 16 hectares of parkland you can see around 350 animals including some very rare mammals and birds. There is also a nature education centre in the middle of the park where you can view exhibitions on many different subjects and learn more about the wildlife park and its natural surroundings. There is also a petting zoo and children's farm.
Enzauen park was opened in 1992 as part of the Regional Garden Show and is not only a place to relax but also a very popular recreation area where you can enjoy a wide range of leisure and sporting activities. There is a water play area and a play and exercise trail for children, as well as level walking paths and plenty of space to get away from it all. In the summer months visitors can enjoy themselves at a number of events held in the park or just relax together in the beer garden.
