Permanent exhibitions

The colliery's imposing architecture - onion-shaped towers, magnificent steel framework, Art Nouveau and brick Gothic elements - earned it the nickname "the castle of work". There is a permanent exhibition with plenty of interesting and little-known facts not just about the harsh reality of the miners' day-to-day life but also their life away from the coalface.
Where the working world becomes an adventure. DASA is a hands-on exhibition that inspires visitors to look, listen, interact and empathise. It challenges all the senses and explores the working conditions of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Visitors can sit in an Airbus cockpit, work on the biggest laptop in the world, manually operate a printing press at an old print works, watch old looms in action and, amid the whirl, find out what risks are involved in lifting and carrying on a building site.
The museum has a collection of school-related artefacts and an exhibition on the history of schools in Dortmund and Westphalia. It is a research centre and offers educational museum resources and activities for children and young people.
