Shopping

By the 12th century the Guelph Duke Henry the Lion had turned Braunschweig into an important centre for trade and today Braunschweig is still the economic centre of the region. The pedestrianised areas and glass-roofed arcades are great places to go shopping or just relax in one of the many pavement cafés and restaurants.
 
Magni Quarter
The historic Magni quarter is the place for stylish shopping - there are lots of boutiques and specialist shops just waiting to be discovered down its narrow alleyways.
 
Burgpassage
The Burgpassage (castle shopping arcade) is in the centre of town and features many exclusive specialist shops, ranging from antiquarian bookshops to jewellers, as well as a number of different cafés and restaurants.
 
Kohlmarkt Square
Kohlmarkt square is a popular meeting place in Braunschweig at the heart of the pedestrian zone offering everything that keen shoppers could wish for. Once a week the historical façades are illuminated with a colourful light show, enthralling locals and visitors alike.
