Food & drink

Menus in Norderney's restaurants are awash with seafood of all kinds, including freshly caught fish, shrimp and mussels. A host of country inns and gourmet restaurants across the region offer a fantastic selection of sumptuous dishes.

"Le Pirate" restaurant
Eating in this exquisite fish restaurant is akin to dining in a maritime museum. The walls are draped with rarities lovingly collected over a period of 20 years, such as fishing nets, ship's figureheads, lighthouse models, mussel shells and mounted fish. Grilled Greenland halibut is one of the house specialities.

"Restaurant Möwennest"
The "Möwenest" (gull's nest), is an airy and brightly coloured restaurant. The kitchen applies the same ethic of freshness to its food, serving up seasonal dishes in an informal atmosphere both at lunchtime and in the evening. Alongside competitively priced regional delicacies and exquisite main courses, there are also three and four course set menus that are changed regularly. Children are also more than welcome. Why not round off a fun-packed day with a drink in the "Seehund", the hotel's cosy bar?

"de Leckerbeck" restaurant
Across two floors with their own individual styles, this restaurant offers comfortable surroundings for even the most discerning guest. The kitchen team conjure up a tantalising menu of East Frisian specialities. You'll find seafood platters, seasonal lamb dishes, mussel and game delicacies not to mention tasty meat concoctions. Divine beers and excellent wines are as much part of proceedings here as coffee and cakes and an afternoon cup of East Frisian tea warmed by a Stövchen (candle-lit tea warmer).
