Büsum has the only Harbour Museum on the whole the North Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein. Harbour basin no.1 is the oldest part of Büsum harbour and has remained almost unchanged, resembling the original harbour from the year 1720.
Büsum has the only lighthouse in the Dithmarschen area. It was constructed in 1913 and is now under a preservation order. The red and white tower can be seen from miles away and is one of the most photographed attractions in the harbour.
The Fishermen's Church of St. Clemence dates back to the 15th century. It is famous for the beautiful, bronze 13th century font which was stolen from Pellworm island by the pirate Cord Widderich. The Marcussen organ is the focus of the annual Büsum Summer of Music festival.
