Places of interest

The hydrotherapy health resort of Überlingen is the "Lake Constance Riviera". The almost Mediterranean climate pleasantly warms your skin, just like in the sunny south. The historic old town and modern lakeside resort complement each other perfectly. At the Lake Constance hot springs you can immerse yourself in high quality thermal waters. You can also learn interesting facts from the time of the witch hunts in the Dagobert tower in Meersburg Museum.

Historic old town
Überlingen was supposedly founded in 1180 by Emperor Friedrich I of Barbarossa. A tour through the historic old town leads through the Franciscan gate which was constructed in 1494 and is one of the most beautiful Gothic city gates in the Lake Constance region. The St. Nicholas Minster (1350-1562), the largest late-Gothic church on Lake Constance, is the town's famous landmark. The magnificent high altar by the Überlingen master sculptor Jörg Zürn is also particularly impressive.

Lake Constance hot springs
The Lake Constance hot springs are located right on the shores of the lake. The thermal waters come from depths of 1000 metres, exit the well head at a temperature of 37°C and feed the indoor and outdoor pools of the hot springs. Spray pools, jacuzzis, massage jets, steam room, whirlpool, hydrotherapy pools and water slides provide all kinds of water-based fun. Completing the package is an extensive sauna area with Finnish saunas, a herb sauna and Japanese rose sauna, quiet areas, solariums and massage.

Meersburg castle
Opposite Mainau island, set amidst vineyards, the little town of Meersburg lights up the green hillside. The medieval castle of Meeresburg is the oldest inhabited castle in Germany. For more than a thousand years it has resisted all sieges and also won the heart of the German poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. During her stay at Lake Constance she lived with her sister in Meersburg castle where she died in 1848. You can visit her living quarters and the room where she died. There are more than 30 furnished rooms open to the public.
