Suggested excursions

The hydrotherapy health resort of Überlingen is a wonderful place to use as a base for sightseeing trips to the surrounding area. You'll need to have stamina and spirit for a journey along the West Allgäu Cheese Route. This takes you through a breathtaking landscape and you'll also learn how the holes are put into cheese. Come and play at the Ravensburg Spieleland amusement park. And it doesn't matter what time of year you visit the Rhine Falls - a trip there is always a little bit special.

West Allgäu Cheese Route
This 50 kilometre round trip is a culinary journey through breathtaking alpine foothills on the trail of cheese between the Illertal valley and Lake Constance. The route can be explored quite easily either on foot or by bike and it takes in cosy inns, alpine dairies, cheese dairies, breweries and distilleries. You can watch how the cheese is made in almost all the alpine dairies.

Ravensburg Spieleland amusement park
The famous German maker of toys and board games now has its own amusement park. The huge park offers countless games and rides from a "moorhen rodeo", crazy labyrinth and a Mercedes-Benz driving school to a fire brigade game. This is where you can play giant-sized and re-designed classic board games. Kids can sit at the wheel of snail cars, you can play the memory game from a helicopter and get a soaking from the water chute on the rollercoaster. The youngest visitors will enjoy themselves with rubber duck races.

Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen
Set in a fairytale landscape, the Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen are the largest waterfalls in Europe, and are a truly magnificent spectacle. The falls are 150 metres wide and 23 metres high, and on average 700 cubic metres of water comes crashing over the rocks every second. You can feel the full force of this volume of water from the basin of the Rhine Falls. Taking an adventurous boat trip to the rock right into the middle of the basin is one of the highlights of any visit to the Falls. From Laufen Castle you can follow a footpath leading past the raging waters to the "pulpit" viewpoint right next to the Falls.
