Places of interest

Bad Pyrmont is a state-approved mineral and mud spa with its own distinctive style and many charming attractions, both large and small. These include the well-tended spa gardens, which provide the setting for a number of top-notch events, as well as venerable museums and the interesting castle museum. For art and culture in an unusual setting, visit the Hufeland thermal baths where you can also enjoy water shiatsu, a Roman steam bath, a Balinese-style sauna or an oriental massage.

Spa Gardens
The historical spa gardens, a baroque-style system of avenues interspersed with the more natural types of greenery typical of a landscaped garden, are one of the real gems in Bad Pyrmont and one of the most beautiful of their kind. Covering an area of approximately 17 hectares, the gardens feature around 300 different rare tree varieties. Constructed between 1667 and 1772, the gardens include the Hauptallee, Springbrunnenallee, Klosterallee and Hylligen Born Allee avenues. The Palm Garden is laid out in the style of a French garden and features around 300 large palms, the oldest of which is approximately 430 years old.

Pyrmont Castle and Museum
A magnificent fortress was built in the Pyrmont Valley in 1526. Its castle was demolished in 1705 due to damage and gradual decay. Between 1706 and 1710, Prince Anton Ulrich zu Waldeck-Pyrmont commissioned the architect Korb to build a Renaissance castle in its place in the baroque neo-classical style. Today, the castle houses the Museum of Municipal and Spa History which regularly has temporary exhibitions.

Hufeland Thermal Baths
The Hufeland thermal baths are a new and charming addition to the state spa of Bad Pyrmont. The modern facilities at this health, fitness and beauty spa are second to none. Guests can enjoy an attractive range of regeneration, beauty and rehabilitation treatments in a wonderful setting, including Ayurvedic treatments for the ultimate in relaxation. The sea salt grotto at the Hufeland thermal baths is the first of its kind in Germany.
