Nature & greenery

Spring, summer, autumn or winter - Bad Driburg is an appealing place to visit at any time of the year. Come and experience Mother Nature reawakening in the spring, enjoy the summer splendour of the flowers in the spa gardens, go for long walks and explore the colourful autumn forest of the nature reserve or go cross-country skiing in the Egge hills in the winter. On the Weser cycle route the motto is "Be active and have fun!"

Teutoburg Forest and Egge hills nature reserve
At the heart of the East Westphalia-Lippe region is the Teutoburg Forest and Egge hills nature reserve. Along the gentle ridges of this low upland range you'll find unspoilt scenery together with culture and history. There is a good network here of hiking and cycling trails. The route goes past moorland and lakes, passes through forests and along tree-lined avenues to watersheds such as that between the Rhine and Weser rivers at Bad Driburg.

Exter valley
When hiking through the Exter valley you will experience the varied landscape with all your senses. There are magnificent views down into the valley from mount Hoher Asch at 371 metres above sea level, from Sternberg castle and the town of Goldbeck. The contrast between lush scenery and cultivated landscape in the Lippe region is what makes this area so appealing - whether in the pale green of the spring, the strong colours and scents of the summer months, the multicoloured splendour of autumn or the fresh white of winter.

Weser Cycle Route
The Weser cycle route is one of the most beautiful cycleways in Germany. It follows the Weser river to where it joins the North Sea. The route mainly consists of well-maintained paths with hardly any hills, and on your journey a diverse a landscape of castles and palaces opens up to you, the home of many characters from legends and fairytales. You will experience many different things, from discovering the romance of the Weser Renaissance era to seeing large ocean-going ships at Bremerhaven.
