Stralsund

Stralsund – town with view on island of Rügen
The Hanseatic City of Stralsund is the second largest city in Vorpommern.  It lies on the Strela Sound, the strait between Isle of Ruegen and the mainland.

It has a turbulent history and bears reminders of it everywhere.  It is one of the most notable places to visit on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The old town was designated a monument by UNESCO.
