The little town of Mittenwald is one of the prettiest in the region of Upper Bavaria. Artistic paintings adorn the houses; there are historical buildings and a violin museum with priceless exhibits. Mittenwald’s reputation as a violin-making centre extends far beyond Germany’s borders. The family of master violinmaker, Anton Sprenger, has been making the instruments for more than 180 years. His violins, violas and cellos have always been hand-made to the highest standards – mostly from precious woods which have been matured for more than one hundred years. This helps create the wonderful sound that has delighted violin-lovers and orchestra musicians from all over the world.
