MOWI World

MOWI World
Location: Wiehe (Thuringia)

MOWI World with over 12000m², may well be the largest model railway exhibition in the World.

Open all year, these gigantic displays of rail routes in miniature are located only 37 miles north east of Erfurt Airport, in a small town called Wiehe.

MOWI World has a permanent exhibition of at least 5 model railway layouts in a variety of gauges and sizes, all displayed in 6 large exhibition halls. These are some of the highlights to be found at MOWI World:
  • The nostalgic Orient Express following the journey from London to Istanbul (HO gauge).
  • One of the world's largest HO gauge size model railway display, fully automised and depicting the rail network of Thuringia. Included in the display are 125 trains on a track length of 1250m.
  • A magnificent display and layout of the US on 1625m², from the east to the west coast. The more this layout is studied, the more attention to detail can be appreciated, including the statue of liberty in New York, the presidential monuments of Dakota (Mount Rushmore) and a journey through the Rocky Mountains.
  • An other record to be seen is the world's largest TT gauge display of Germany's first high speed Intercity Express route from Hamburg to Würzburg.
  • Any fan of steam railways will appreciate the recreation of the Brockenbahn, a famous narrow-gauge railway located in the Harz Mountains.

Young or young at heart, enthusiast or not, this exhibition cannot fail to impress!
