Lichtenstein is not only a tiny country squeezed between Austria and Switzerland, but also a town in the region of Saxony, approx. 50kms from the Czech border.
After four years of project preparation and construction work, the world’s first centre for International Wood Carving Art was officially opened in the beautiful palace complex in Lichtenstein/ Saxony in June 2001.
As a multi-functional cultural and educational centre, the Daetz-Centrum in Lichtenstein combines a number of activities under one roof, these include an exhibition ‘Masterpieces in Wood’ (more than 750 exhibits from 5 continents), study courses, special activities for the public and conference facilities.
