The Bach archiv Leipzig is widely recognized as the world’s pre-eminent centre of Bach scholarship.
Comprising a research institute, a library, an events department and a museum. The Bach Archive today occupies the historic Bosehaus complex at St. Thomas Square.
The permanent exhibition in the Bach museum is devoted to the life and works of Johann Sebastian Bach in Leipzig.
Bach's 27 years as cantor at St Thomas's School and the city's director of music stamped a mark on Leipzig's musical life. It was here that he composed for example five cycles of cantatas, the Christmas Oratorio, the St John and St Matthew Passions, and the Art of the Fugue.
You can see sheet music, documents, works of art, musical instruments, furniture an much more in the exhibition
