The Rammelsberg ore mine represents a new type of innovative museum which aims to explain the history of mining at the very place it all happened.
An exceptional collection of industrial monuments are displayed both on the surface as well as under ground, covering all important aspects of mining and its 3000 year old history.
The mining heydays in Goslar saw the building of important cultural monuments such as the emperors palace, the town hall, the “Brusttuch” or the miners’ quater, which lent the Old Town the appearance it still enjoys today.
Nowadays both Goslar and Rammelsberg have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, a site of "extraordinary universal interest".
