Mainz Christmas Market

Mainz's 1,000-year-old St. Martin’s Cathedral has been the historical backdrop for the St. Nicholas Market for over 200 years. In the run-up to Christmas the historical market square becomes an idyllic scene of illuminated stalls. Particularly popular are the life-size characters in the Nativity scene and the 11-metre Christmas pyramid. The stage Liebfrauenplatz by the cathedral has a fantastic programme of music and performances including traditional carol-singing.
