Bad Hersfeld Christmas Market

The “Christmas market of 100,000 lights” is set on historical Linggplatz square in the heart of the old quarter. It takes its name from the number of bulbs used to illuminate the beautiful medieval façades. A 20 metre-tall Christmas tree illuminates the exquisitely decorated wooden booths, while choirs fill the air every day with Christmas carols. 8 December is a special day when the shops stay open until midnight. The whole town joins in the celebrations on 30 November.
